The Jackson City Council has approved a construction bid for a new fire station. The construction bid for Fire Station 7 was approved unanimously, Tuesday morning. Lubin Enterprises won the bid. The city will hire about 16 extra firefighters to accommodate the extra station. The new station is modeled after Station 6 with some minor changes to the floor plan. “It’s not as large as some of them but it’s certainly not the smallest. But it’s built in such a way that if it needs to be added onto later it won’t be a problem,” said Fire Chief Max Stewart of the Jackson Fire Department. Officials said it should take about eight months to build the station. It will serve the northwestern parts of the city ans is specifically being added following annexation of area in that part of Jackson.
