British Radio Broadcasts from Casey Jones Village
It was a British invasion of Jackson’s most visited tourist attraction, Thursday. Music Highway Crossroads in Casey Jones Village hosted a British radio crew from Magic 105.4 FM. D.J. Nick Wright originated his show featuring music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s for four hours to England to a listenership projected at 1.5 million people in the United Kingdom. The crew interviewed West Tennessee music notables such as Stan Perkins, W.S. Holland, Rayburn Anthony, Carl Mann and Denise Lasalle. “The old recordings are just great. And people want to know more and more of it,” said Tim Jibson with Adventures in Radio. “Even youngsters love it now. They want to know where the early track came from, who recorded then, who wrote them, where they recorded. You know, a lot happened in Tennessee.” Tourism officials said it is great to have local entertainers receive attention by music lovers outside the United States.
