The two top officers in Jackson and Madison County were not making arrests, but were back in school, Wednesday. Preschool to be exact. Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork was among the guest readers at Denmark Elementary Head Start. Throughout the week, the school is celebrating not only Literacy Week, but the importance of male involvement in the lives in young children. “With the male involvement, what we try to do is encourage fathers to be enthusiastic and what’s going on with their children,” said Bernita Perry, coordinator fpr Denmark Elementary Head Start. “To expand their knowledge of child involvement, child development and also to let them see how important their role is in their child’s life.” Another guest reader at the event was Jackson Police Chief Gill Kendrick. Other guest readers will visit with the head start class throughout the week.
