Couple Trapped By Electric Fence

A southwestern Kentucky family became trapped in their trailer and a dog died after a fence around the home became electrified.

Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department Deputy Phillip Peterson says the fence became an electrical conductor around 4:15 p.m. CDT Thursday in the St. Elmo community near Oak Grove. Peterson told the Kentucky New Era (http://bit.ly/ybinUS ) the incident wasn’t weather related.

A mother and a daughter were home at the time. The daughter was trapped inside until Pennyrile Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation workers turned off the power to the trailer.

A dog attached by a metal leash to the underpinning of the trailer was electrocuted. PRECC manager of member services Brent Gilkey asked the homeowner to have an electrician to check the trailer.
