Henry Co. S.D. Holds Special Training for Drug Dogs
This week, some of the area’s best law enforcement teams are perfecting their skills in Paris. 25, four-legged officers and their human counterparts are training with a master trainer through Friday. The K-9’S, who specialize in skills, such as drug and bomb sniffing to cadaver recovery and their trainers are working on their communication, working better as a team and perfecting each of the dog’s specific skills. “Each trainer learns something from each other, good fellowship and hopefully when the dogs and the trainers leave, they’ll be better trained and ready to go out and hit the streets and go to work for the respective agency, “said Sheriff Monte Belew of Henry County. “Narcotics dogs, we’ve got tracking dogs, also cadaver dogs that do a wide range of services for law enforcement and rescue squads all across West Tennessee and part of Kentucky, so hopefully at the end of the week, they’ll leave and be better trainees and handlers from working together.” The teams are training in various areas throughout Paris and Henry County. Earlier Wednesday, the drug dogs did an exercise at one area school and got one hit. Investigators told 7 Eyewitness News that case is ongoing.
