Faculty and volunteers gathered at Milan Christian Academy, Friday for a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new addition to the schools playground. Students, staff and faculty at the Tennessee Technology Center in McKenzie and Paris. spent over 12,000 man hours constructing and installing equipment for the new addition for the new playground. It was part of the students community service project. The addition was made possible through a grant from Lowe’s Home Improvement and Skills USA. “There was a definite need for this school to have a playground and we were able to utilize a lot of the trades that we’re training in and use it as an outdoor training aid,” said Bruce Moore of the Tennessee Technology Center. “The first day we were here to see where we were going to put the playground, on the other side of the building, we set down a, it’s a toy helicopter, and the kids’ faces in the two-year-old classroom was plastered to the window, and we said, ‘We can’t wait to get this done for them.'” The construction of the new playground took students and faculty about six weeks to complete.
