JMCGH Medical First
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital has made another breakthrough in robotic surgery After celebrating more than 1,000 robotic surgeries, Jackson General is now the first in the state to perform a DaVinci robotically-assisted gall bladder removal through a singe incision. Each year, nearly 1 million people in the U.S. will undergo gall bladder removal and more than 40 percent of these patients are women ages 18 to 44. This single incision procedure enters the abdomen through the belly button, potentially leaving no visible scar. Usually the patient is able to go home in a few hours. Officials said this type of assisted surgery represents a significant advance from the traditional approach.
