Another murder makes it number four for the city of Jackson in just six weeks. Investigators identified the victim in Thursday night’s deadly shooting as 21-year-old Rapphel McBride. “Sirens, a lot of people showed up like there was a parade or something,” said Kelcey Taylor. Thursday night around 9:30, police found McBride dead on the sidewalk. The 21-year-old had been fatally shot. “He lived right around the corner, he may’ve walked frequently,” said Lt. Tyreece Miller. According to Lt. Miller, McBride was with a person or group of people when he was shot. “We’ve been told that he wouldn’t harm anybody, he was an extremely nice person. He has no past record with the Jackson Police Department. We believe that he’s just an innocent victim which is extremely bothersome to us and we really want to bring some closure to this and catch the people involved,” added Lt. Miller People who knew McBride told officials he was a popular person in the neighborhood, and only had nice things to say about him. Investigators said it did not appear to them that he did anything to contribute to his death. Although Lt. Miler said this case did not seem to be gang related, residents of the area said they would not be surprised if the shooter was involved in something bad. “A lot of things going on around here in Jackson, It doesn’t make sense,” said Louis Martin. “I just wish stuff like that would die down,” added Kelcey Taylor.
