Ayers Arrested in Alleged Drug Deal

More than three months after a shooting at a north Jackson apartment complex the shooting victim has been arrested on drug and weapons charges. Jackson Police have charged Darell Ayers in the November 2 incident because he was shot while selling marijuana to tow other men. Otis Love and Alexander Merriweather are charged with shooting Ayers in the hip and leg when all three pulled guns during the drug buy. Love and Merriweather were arrested within minutes and remained jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond each. Ayers faces an unrelated charge for failing to appear in court on a February 2 arrest for simple domestic assault.
