Lights on in Medon

An entire West Tennessee community feels a bit safer after their street lights are back on. It was one week ago Wednesday that 7 Eyewitness News reported about the town of Medon’s decision to shut off most of its street lights in an effort to save money. As of Wednesday night, the lights are back on in neighborhoods all across town. Community members told 7 Eyewitness News they believe Mayor Mike Austin changed his mind about the cost-saving strategy after they complained that the practice was unsafe. “I feel safer personal cause I can see more of the road and more of I couldn’t see anything outside my head lights,” said Medon resident Matt Sanders. Just two days after the initial story ran, those who live in Medon told 7 Eyewitness News utility crews were replacing bulbs in their neighborhood street lights. Attempts by 7 Eyewitness News to reach Mayor Austin have been unsuccessful.
