Habitat Jackson Races Toward 100th Home
The Jackson-Madison County Habitat for Humanity got tow steps closer to reaching a milestone of 100 homes. Friday, John Allen Construction Company broke ground on Habitat’s 98th home in the Hub City. It is located in the Habitat Meadows Subdivision where several other Habitat homes have been built. But that was not the only groundbreaking, Friday. Habitat’s 99th house is also being built by Cecil Riggsbee Construction and a large volunteer base of Jackson firefighters. “We’re actually getting that reward of knowing that we’re creating a new life for someone, a home, a place of comfort that someone can feel a warmth in, that is their own home,” Chaplain Ben Benfield, with the Jackson Fire Department. The foundations on both homes are scheduled to be poured on April 9 and are expected to be completed by the end of June. The groundbreaking for Habitat’s 100th home is scheduled for next week.
