Memphis Fugitive Arrested in Mississippi
HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) – A man wanted in a slaying in Memphis was being held in a Mississippi jail on Thursday awaiting his extradition to Tennessee. Local and federal law enforcement officials say 27-year-old Michael Bonsky of Memphis was arrested without incident Tuesday at the New Albany Wal-Mart. He was turned over to DeSoto County authorities, who will keep him in custody for probation violation. Authorities say Bonsky was also wanted by officials in Tunica County on a warrant for armed robbery. Bonsky is wanted in Memphis for a shooting Sunday in which 29-year-old Roy Townsel was killed and a 21-year-old woman was injured. Bonsky is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and carjacking.
