As summer approaches, many people are ready to get out on the lake, but they will not be able to visit the new lake in Carroll County as expected. Chamber of Commerce officials told 7 Eyewitness News they hoped construction would begin early in the year, and have the lake open by this spring. However, TDOT said they are just now getting ready to begin construction and do not expect it to be finished until fall. Huntingdon Mayor Dale Kelly said improvements to the main entrance of the intersection of Baker Road and Highway 70 are crucial to the safety of vehicles hauling large boats. “It’s only been 28 years in the making. We created the legislation back in 1984. Now we’re in 2012, so patience has been the name of the day. That’s where we are today, we just need to exercise some patience,” said Kelly. TDOT officials said the weather threats this week have delayed the start of road construction, but they plan on starting next week. The estimated date of completion is October 31.
