The Bruceton Chief of Police that was attacked by his daughter’s two pit bulls last week is back in the hospital, and it’s all the more reason community members there want to show their support. All day Friday, volunteers threw a cook out, bake sale, and silent auction to help raise money for Chief Ronnie Stewart. His daughter Elizabeth Wakefield put on the fundraiser, but tells us her father is facing complications from his injuries with blood clots in both of his lungs. Chief Stewart was admitted back into the hospital Thursday. Wakefield tells us they the money raised will be used to help pay for medical expenses. “It broke his right thumb on his hand, they put pins in his hand. And then they had to leave his arm open from his shoulder down to his hand. They left it open for three days to clean it up before they stitched it back up,” said Wakefield. Family members tell us Chief Stewart is being treated with blood thinners at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. They are told he should be released in a few days.
