Several Tennessee cities want to improve their downtowns and they believe that it all starts with their Main Streets. Rightfully held on Main Street in Jackson, directors of the program focused on how to keep the main streets of their cities alive. Design committees, along with city leaders, took a look at how to improve the appearance of their streets, buildings, and signs in their downtowns. The program is part of the Tennessee Downtowns Project that educates select cities on ways to improve their downtowns. “The center of downtown is all about the built environment, so it’s very important to pay attention to those details and not let the soul of the community deteriorate,” said Kimberly Nyberg, Tennessee Main Street Program Director. Representatives from Brownsville, McKenzie, Henderson and Linden attended the program.
