April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and one local organization is doing everything in its power to bring awareness to the issue, starting with T-shirts. WRAP or Women’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program partnered with the Tennessee Correctional Services to hold the Clothesline Project event. It’s part of a national awareness project. Survivors, friends, family, and concerned citizens can paint old T-shirts with a message or expression against domestic violence and sexual assault. This is the first year WRAP participated. Saturday, more than 150 T-shirts were on display. “Think about that. Think about how this is a small representative of all the victims, not just in Jackson because these shirts came from Jackson, but all of West Tennessee,” said WRAP Director Margaret Cole. The T-shirts will be on display at Jackson State Community College until April 30th.
