Police Surround and Arrest Shoplifting Suspect

An accused shoplifter at Belk in the Old Hickory Mall led security and police on a foot chase just after 12 Noon, Thursday and caused quite a scene along North Parkway. Several Jackson Police officers parked their attention on this culvert where the suspect hid out for about half an hour. He came out only after a crisis team member came to the scene and talked with him. The suspect, whose name has not been released, is accused of taking $926 in merchandise. He faces a charge of theft.
