Clerk Fires on Shoplifter

Police in Knoxville have charged a liquor store clerk after he fired a gun at a fleeing shoplifter. 76-year-old Harold Edward Williams was back at work Tuesday – a day after he was arrested. Police charged Williams with reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was released on bond. Williams said he fired the shot as a warning and didn’t intend to hit the shoplifter. Police said the bullet missed the suspect, but barely missed a car carrying two women and came through the window of a beauty shop across the street. No one was inside it at the time.
