First Homicide of the year
Ridgeland police are searching for a motive in the city’s first homicide this year. Police say 61-year-old Jose Ortiz was shot outside his apartment complex late Monday night after returning home from work. No arrest has been made. Lt. John Neal said witnesses told police the suspect fled on foot. Neal also said Ortiz had his wallet with him, so police are uncertain if a robbery took place.
