The University of Tennessee at Martin has received a large grant from the federal government. The $200,000 “Race to the Top” grant was awarded to the university for its STEM Professional Development Program. The purpose of the STEM program is t provide high quality researched-based professional development to K-12 teachers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The grant allows 10 science and math teachers from grades 5 through 9 from Dickson, Henderson, and Jackson-Madison County School systems will participate in a week-long summer academy at UT Martin. The academy will be offered this summer and the summer of 2013.
