Deputy Attacked During Family Fight

A central Kentucky sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being attacked while trying to break up a family fight. Sim Thacker, a deputy for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, received a tailbone fracture when he was knocked off a porch early Monday. Thacker went to a home after a family called and said a father and son were fighting with each other. Thacker said he was trying to calm James and Joseph Pumphrey when the men turned on him. Thacker said he used a stun device to subdue the Pumphreys. The father and the son are both charged with assaulting a police officer, attempt to disarm an officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
