Accused Gas Station Thief Caught

Jackson Police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for the armed robbery of the Varsity Market more than a week ago. Officers said Paul Cheairs, 19, was arrested Saturday morning around nine. He was wanted on a charge of armed robbery. Cheairs is accused of robbing the north Jackson convenience store at gunpoint just before 11 p.m. on May 12. He got away with money but no one was hurt.
