It was a big win for the City of Milan as the civil case against the city in the death of Jermaine Ward was dismissed, Thursday. The Ward family attorney argued police negligence caused Ward’s death following his tasing in 2008. Following the testimony of witnesses for the plaintiff, the city attorney asked the case be dismissed due to lack of evidence and Judge Clayburn Peeples agreed, saying the officers were led to believe Ward had ingested marijuana instead of cocaine and had no reason to think he should be taken to the hospital.
