Tree Falls, Blocks Off Campbell Street
JACKSON, Tenn. – A huge tree that fell on Campbell Street Sunday night is causing headaches for drivers in that area. It fell across Campbell Street, near Arlington Street. Jackson firefighters told 7 Eyewitness News the tree was so large, they had to cut it with a chainsaw to remove it from the road. Fire officials said the tree pulled down some power lines, knocking out electricity to three neighborhood streets, and even the University of Memphis-Lambuth. The downed power lines caused a small grass fire near the tree, but firefighters were able to get it out quickly. Firefighters said they do not know what caused the tree to fall.
