JACKSON, Tenn. – A historic home in the Lambuth area of West Jackson on the brink of being demolished has been given a new lease on life, at least for now. The house in the 100-block of Arlington Avenue was at the center of a community meeting hosted by the Jackson-Madison County Historic Zoning Commission, Monday. The home, which is in a state of disrepair, is currently owned by the city and county. Many who live around the home argued that the property is historically significant and should be saved. Commission members said they were willing to compromise, if a buyer will purchase the home and restore it. “That is always the hope, to find someone who would be willing to purchase and renovate or restore it,” said Sammy West, Chairman of the Commission. After hearing the public comment, the commission voted unanimously to give supporters three months to find a buyer for the historic house.
