BOLIVAR, Tenn. -Bolivar police are investigating an homicide. Around 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a call at a home in the 200 Sycamore Road. According to investigators, Jamarcus Hurde, 27, was shot in the back after a barbecue. Officers believe Hurde was an innocent bystander in the melee. Fabian Bills, 23, has been charged with second degree murder. Officials said charges are also pending against a woman whose identity has yet to be released. Bills was arrested by police and sheriff’s deputies at a Whiteville hotel where he was reportedly registered under a false name. Debbie Jones is related to the murder victim and said the news came as a shock. “They called me, somebody called me on the phone saying he got shot,” she said. Hurde was a cook at the Route 64 restaurant in Bolivar. By all accounts he was an excellent employee. Restaurant manager Diane Hill said, “Here he is a very nice person just as good as he could be. What happened we have no idea but here he did his job and got along with everybody.”
