Slain Teen Possibly Shot by Neighbor
The father of a slain teenager found behind an abandoned Jackson house said he has been told his son was shot by someone who believed there were trespassers on his property. Edward Evans Sr. says that the story came from friends of his 15-year-old son, Edward Evans Jr. The teenager’s badly decomposed body was found Monday lying in kudzu in the backyard of a Jackson home. Evans Sr. said police know about the story that a neighbor accidentally shot his son, and to his knowledge they are looking into it. A Jackson Police Department spokeswoman said she couldn’t comment on the investigation other than to say police are looking into that possibility.
