Blue Suede Walk Held in Downtown Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. – The new Mr. Blue Suede Shoes Walkway was officially unveiled in downtown Jackson, Friday. Several supporters gathered Friday evening to walk the 298 steps from the International Rockabilly Hall of Fame on Church Street to the Jackson Symphony on East Layfayette Street. The foot prints were painted by local artist Lee Goff in honor of native son Carl Perkins and his famous song “Blue Suede Shoes.” “Some say it’s a really nice tribute to Carl and rockabilly music,” said Henry Harrison of the International Rockabilly Hall of Fame. “Others might say it’s a little cheesy, but at least they’re talking about it.” The walkway was a partnership between the Hall of Fame and the Jackson Symphony.
