New Group Taking Over Historic Theatre
A historic theatre in eastern Kentucky will be the new home for a nonprofit actors’ group, which will hold live performances at the venue. The Sipp Theatre in Paintsville will host the Main Street Players thanks to a partnership with the Paintsville Main Street Association and the dedication of people who want to see arts grow in the community. The theatre was built in the 1930s, but was recently renovated. Barbie Whitten of the Paintsville Main Street Association Board of Directors says its one way to “promote our downtown district and to revitalize our historic buildings.” The Main Street Players are slated to hold their first show in September.
