Change of Address for Crockett County Residents

ALAMO, TENN. – Nearly fifty percent of residents in Crockett County will soon have new addresses. No they are not moving. According to a county official a mapping error over twenty years ago caused the problem. “Our first company that came in to do our addresses in 1990 they went out of business half-way through it,” said Brian Black Director of 911 for Crockett County. The move is needed for emergency personnel to respond to where GPS devices locate the home. The move to new addresses are not expected to be well received by all of the residents. “I think is should stay like it is,” said Resident Pete Mayfield. In many areas the even numbers are on the side of the road that the odd numbers should be. Some of the addresses are off by one mile. “I am not happy with it. The board is not happy that we need to do it. Nobody is happy with it but it is one of those things that need to be done to fix a problem,” said Black.
