Alderman Facing Embezzlement and Child Porn Charges
A Jackson County grand jury has declined to indict Ocean Springs aldermen James Hagan on a charge of touching a child for lustful purposes. Hagan still faces embezzlement and possession of child pornography charges. Hagan was arrested Nov. 29 and charged with one count of touching a child for lustful purposes, relating to a 15-year-old girl known to him, and one count of embezzlement of publicly owned equipment. The embezzlement charge stemmed from a missing laptop that the city of Ocean Springs provided to Hagan to conduct city business. It was found at Hagan’s office. Hagan was charged in December with possession of child pornography when authorities say they found a video of a young child in a sexual situation on the laptop.
