Animal Shelter Seeks Extra Funding

The Corinth-Alcorn Animal shelter is asking for a $2,000 increase in its annual funding from the city of Farmington. The fiscal 2013 budget request would raise Farmington’s contribution from $3,000 to $5,000. Shelter officials told the Board of Aldermen they also are seeking a substantial increase in funding from Alcorn County labor costs that have risen because of a decrease in the availability of inmate labor.
