Crash on I-40 Causes Traffic Backup

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn.- An afternoon crash involving a semi along Interstate 40 in Henderson County has claimed two lives. Investigators said the crash happened near Exit 116 in the eastbound lanes of the interstate. Witnesses said the semi was entering I-40 around noon when the driver swerved to miss a crash causing the truck to flip and catch fire. An estimated seven cars were involved in the crash causing the interstate to become backed up for hours. One eastbound lane was later reopened with troopers redirecting most drivers to take Exit 108 off the interstate. Around 6:15 Monday evening, both lanes of I-40 reopened. Investigators have not released the names of the victims.
