JACKSON, Tenn.- The price you pay for gas is expected to soar due to Hurricane Isaac, just as drivers get ready for a Labor Day getaway. The storm forced the closure of dozens of refineries based in the Gulf of Mexico. The closures could send pump prices up 10 cents per gallon in the next few weeks, depending of the severity of the storm. Some of the nation’s largest refinery centers are located in the gulf. Triple A said the national price for a gallon of regular is at $3.76. Many drivers in West Tennessee are reporting that prices jumped overnight by as much as 10 cents a gallon. Analysts predict gas prices will fall quickly if the damage is not severe. Even before the storm, prices had risen about seven percent this month to the highest levels since early May.
