Locals Plan Mission Trips to Aid Haiti After Isaac

HENDERSON, TENN. – 24 people have been killed and three are missing after Isaac roared past Haiti. Estes Church of Christ in Henderson has helped with missions to Haiti for years. Mission workers from Chester County were twenty miles away from the hardest hit part of Haiti. “There was a lot of wind and rain but flooding was not really bad in their areas. So they are o.k. our people are o.k.,” said Jesse Robertson of Estes Church of Christ. Tent cities collapsed due to the impact from Isaac. One of the poorest countries in the world dealt another bad blow. In 2010, 222,000 people in Haiti died from an earthquake. David and Charlene May will travel to Haiti on Monday. They will help with foster care for 20 children. They will also teach and distribute food. “The storm has just set them back in that some have lost everything they own in the storm,” said David May. “When you are passing them on the street and you see them in the garbage piles on the side of the road trying to find food it is beyond sad,” said Charlene May.
