Inspection to force lane closures on I-40 bridge

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (AP) – Lanes will be closed this week as crews inspect the Interstate 40 bridge over the Mississippi River between West Memphis and Memphis, Tenn. The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department says the eastbound outside lane will be closed between 9 a.m. and dusk on Thursday. The westbound outside lane may also be closed Thursday morning until 3 p.m. The highway department says both eastbound and westbound outside lanes may be closed from dawn to dusk on Saturday and Sunday. The inspections are expected to continue until Sept. 20, weather permitting.
