JACKSON, Tenn.- A controversial book hit store shelves Tuesday that is supposed to give a deeper look into how al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed. Some government officials believe the author’s accounts may involve sensitive military secrets. Even though the book is already a best seller, government officials are not thrilled with its release. Residents told 7 Eyewitness News, though, it is time to know the truth. “No Easy Day” may have just been released, but veteran William Hollowell is already halfway through the book. “I’m interested in what’s happening to the military today versus what happened to us in the ’60s,” he said. And Hollowell is not the only veteran. Jackson Books-A-Million workers said the book, written by an ex-Navy SEAL on what it was like killing Osama bin Laden, is very popular with police officers and many affiliated with the military. “When I heard this morning that they may be fixing to file a lawsuit against the book coming out, I thought I better get it while I could,” said veteran William Roy. “No Easy Day” was supposed to come out next week. Instead, it was released early because of the high demand. “It’s been really popular,” said Jackson Books-A-Million manager Jon Hescht. “As soon as it was starting to be promoted at all, we had people calling in, looking for it, trying to find out the day it would be out so they could be in here.” Workers said a few veterans were right there when the store opened to buy the book. Veterans told 7 Eyewitness News it is important to read the book to get different viewpoints, not just from government officials. “Just wanting the truth, and I feel like that’s something you’ll get from a Navy SEAL,” Roy said. Roy said he cannot wait to start reading it. Hollowell said he looks forward to finishing it. “It’s real interesting,” Hollowell said. “Everybody should read it.” Books-A-Million workers said they expect to sell most – if not all – of the books by the end of the day. They said similar books have sold quickly.
