DRESDEN, Tenn. – Two teens accused of killing a puppy in Weakley County have been indicted by the grand jury. According to the Weakley County Circuit Court Clerk‘s Office, Preston Odle and Levi Evans were indicted for aggravated animal cruelty, Tuesday. They are scheduled to return to court for arraignment Monday. According to investigators, the pair was involved in the cruel killing of a four-month-old Saint Bernard puppy in Dresden. In May, Dresden Police Chief Randal Walker said, “I believe it started out by them kicking the dog and breaking its ribs, then one of them stood on its head and pressed it into the ground.” Officers said the brutality did not stop there. According to a statement that was reportedly made by one of the boys, Odle then decided to stab the puppy in the back with a knife. The charge of aggravated animal cruelty is a Class-E felony. If the teens are convicted, the charge can carry one or two year jail sentence.
