Attendance at Pringles Park Rises in 2012

JACKSON, Tenn. – It is said that winning fixes almost anything. For the Jackson Generals, winning has played a big role in fixing attendance. “Through the regular season we ended up about 26 percent above last years total attendance,” said General Manager Jason Compton. “Which puts us ahead of both Huntsville and Mobile.” The rise in attendance has been noticed by everyone including Jane DesOrmeaux, who named the team when they moved to Jackson from Memphis. “Its really more exciting when there’s more people who come you know,” DesOrmeaux said. “And there’s been more people this year.” Attendance at Pringles Park is not affected by the popularity of the sport in the area. Most of it has to do with the size of Jackson itself. “We’re the smallest market in double A in all of baseball,” Compton said. “If we were single A, we would still be one of the smallest markets. We have a limited population to pull from.” With a limited population, the Generals are still able to keep new fans coming to the park. “I’ve actually been here one other time a few days ago,” said Steve Murray. “We came for the final game of the regular season. Had a great time so today, we brought back 18 people.” Pringles Park offers fans the chance to see some of the best players in the country while also getting an experience that will keep them coming. “We greet each customer as they come in and try to great each one as they leave,” said Jerrell Hoppers who has been with the Generals since they came to Jackson. “We try to make them happy and comfortable while they’re here.” The Generals will continue their playoff series with Chattanooga on Friday afternoon at 4:05 p.m.
