Eighth Man Charged in West Jackson Murder

JACKSON, Tenn. – An eighth man has been arrested and charged in the beating death of Antwan Brooks. According to Jackson police, Sean Jamal Blackmon, 26, of Jackson, was arrested Wednesday. He is charged with first degree murder. In all, nine men were indicted in Brooks‘ murder by a special grand jury. Charges against one of the men were dropped. Now eight stand accused of beating and killing Antwan Brooks. The other seven are Demarcus Deon Crawford, 29, Terrell Reid, 29, Jonique Merriweather, 30, James Roberson, 27, Michael Anthony Smith, 22, Frank Clement Massengill, 34, and Exavier Ingram, 23. Each of the men is charged with first degree murder in the beating death of Brooks on Carolane Drive on August 5, 2012. The reason for the alleged attack has not been released. All of the men are still being held in jail. Police are continuing their investigation.
