JACKSON, Tenn.- Devoted hunters in West Tennessee are all ready to go for the opening of Deer Archery Hunting season Saturday. Local archery retailers say they have stayed busy for the past few weeks supplying equipment and cutting arrows for their customers. Hunters we spoke said they enjoy the challenges that come along with bow hunting over hunting with a gun. Sales associates said they have seen a rising interest this year in archery. They credit much of that to the release of the popular movie, “The Hunger Games.” The lead character is a pro with the bow and arrow. Archery hunter Benny Owens said he has been preparing for this weekend for months. “Lot of putting out food plots and the cameras out, getting the bow in tune. Get it all checked out figuring out the routine,” said Owens. Tennessee Wildlife officials said it is important you have all your up to date licenses.
