HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Chickasaw State Park celebrated its heritage with its 75th anniversary Saturday. Park officials are honoring the park’s many patrons and visitors by showcasing the park’s past. Chickasaw Park held many activities open to the public for visitors to experience and learn more about the park’s history. The day’s events included free hay rides, historical presentations, snake programs, Native American pioneer games, and a unique birds of prey show. Organizers said they hope their efforts will inspire more people to visit state parks. “We hope they can take something away that they didn’t know. We can inform them about the nature, what activities we offer. Just anything that they can take away and say, ‘Hey, I want to come back and visit,'” Park Manager Jerry Easley said. There are 54 state parks and 82 state natural areas in Tennessee.
