Businessman Sentenced in Kickback Conspiracy

A federal judge has sentenced Tupelo businessman Ray Shoemaker to fifty-five months in federal prison, a $10,000 fine and three years’ post-release supervision on six counts related to a kickback conspiracy. The crimes centered on Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville, of which Shoemaker was the administrator. Shoemaker was given until Nov. 1 to report to a Bureau of Prisons facility yet to be named. A federal jury convicted Shoemaker of ten counts of a twelve-count indictment in February.
