East Jackson Shooting Victim Dies

JACKSON, Tenn. – The man critically injured in an East Jackson shooting earlier this week has died from his injuries. According to Jackson police, shooting victim Howard Williamson, 53, died at a Memphis hospital Saturday afternoon. Police said Williamson was hit by a spray of shotgun pellets early Monday morning. He told investigators he was inside his house on Preston Alley just before 1 a.m. that morning, when he heard someone banging on his front door and trying to kick it in. He said that is when the suspect fired a shotgun through a window, hitting him in the shoulder, leg and backside. Police have not released a firm description of the shooter.
