Investigators Work to Identify Car Crash, Fire Victim

SCOTTS HILL, Tenn. – Investigators are struggling to identify a person killed in a fiery car crash in Henderson County, early Monday morning. Police told 7 Eyewitness News, they believe the vehicle traveling on Highway 100 in Scotts Hill just after 2:00 a.m. ran off the road, hit an embankment, then flipped upside down and hit a tree. Witnesses say the car was completely engulfed in the fire after the crash. “It was really hot. Couldn’t get nowhere near it. Couldn’t see nothing really for the flames couldn’t nobody get close to the vehicle whatsoever,” said W.R. Roach. Investigators said they have not been able to identify the vehicle or the body recovered because of the extensive damage from the fire. Both the license place and vehicle identification number were destroyed in the fire. The only evidence as to who the driver could be was the masculine jewelry found on the body, which makes police suspect the victim may have been a man. Authorities will have to check dental records to confirm the identity of the victim. The cause of the wreck remains under investigation. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is assisting Scotts Hill with the investigation.
