Rescued Dogs Recovering in Hardin Co.

HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. – It has been a week since K-9 Sanctuary rescued 16 malnourished dogs in Hardin County, and rescue workers said the animals are already doing better. Workers told 7 Eyewitness News that it took them three days to rescue the dogs and puppies from a home on Lonesome Pine Road. Workers said a majority of the dogs were emaciated and some were injured from fighting. They said the good news is the dogs are already gaining weight. “We try to get them healthy,” said Sally Burnham, president of K-9 Sanctuary. “This isn’t the first one we’ve had to get out of emaciation, and with puppies. I’m so glad that we got her in time, because those puppies are lethargic. They were so full of worms, that it took two days to expel them.” The sheriff’s department said they do not know yet if the dogs’ former owners will face charges and that the case remains under investigation. If you are interested in adopting any of the dogs, contact K-9 Sanctuary at (731) 412-8355.
