Delay Sought in Drug Case
Attorneys want to the delay the sentencing of a man who has pleaded guilty in a cocaine and marijuana distribution case. Dmtrice “Mickey” Booth of Bassfield was indicted June 19 on four counts related to drug dealing. He pleaded guilty to one count on Aug. 9. His sentencing is set for Oct. 25 in U.S. District Court in Hattiesburg, but attorneys for both sides have asked for a 30-day delay. The motion for continuance says there are “outstanding issues” related to the sentencing. Court records say Booth was serving an eight-year sentence in 2005 when a judge reduced the sentence by almost half after he cooperated in a drug case. After his release, Booth was arrested again after allegedly selling drugs to informants on several different occasions in 2011.
