Neighbors Worried After Murder in Crockett County

The death of a Crockett County man has members of the community fearing for their safety. Matt Mcknight, 40, was discovered by his mother in the home they share on Gum Flat Road, near Bells. Known as a fixture in the community, his death has the community in shock. “I couldn’t believe it. I mean around the community like this you just don’t hear stuff like that,” said Josh Hayes, a Crockett County resident. Mcknight owned and ran a fitness center in downtown Alamo. On Friday, a sign was put on the front door that read “closed indefinitely due to death.” Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department at (731) 696-2104.
