Sheriff: Suspicious Man Knocked On Doors, Ran From Deputies

UPDATE: Carroll County deputies have caught the man who fought with police and ran into the woods Tuesday morning. Deputies arrested Alexander Cawthon in the woods of Carroll County Wednesday. CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. – Deputies and K-9 units searched a wooded area in Carroll County for a man they say was going door to door asking questions. Roger Bartholomew talked to the man and at first he did not think he was dangerous. “The guy pulls up and asks if I seen any ‘Johnsons’ around here,” he said. Several people called the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department concerned the man was acting suspicious. Deputies stopped the man during a traffic stop and discovered he was driving on a suspended license. The suspect, Alexander Cawthon scuffled with the officer and escaped into the woods off of Dees Road. “He run in my driveway parked grabbed his keys and took off running next thing I know the law was everywhere,” said Bartholomew. Deputies looked for Cawthon for a couple of hours in the wooded area. The suspect is still on the loose. Carroll and Henderson County deputies are working together to find the suspect.
