McNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. – The City of Bethel Springs has voted to eliminate their one-man police department at their Monday night board meeting. According to Mayor Kay Cox, the decision was made in a 3 to 1 vote to release Police Chief Pee Wee Sowell from duty and use the money used to pay him to lower sewer bills. Cox says this is a decision the Board of Alderman has been considering for a while now.
